Meteor shower campout

First, we ate grilled turkey burgers and corn on the cob outside.  Classic picture of the princess picking corn out of her teeth.
Then we set the tent on fire.  No, we didn't; it just looks like it in the picture.  Noah is tending my mini-fire, where I sought (unsuccessfully) to roast the perfect marshmallow.

Late night sand play, waiting for the meteor show to start.

Busted checking scores on his phone (and trying to hide it).  You can't bring a phone camping!

Playing four square in the dark.  It turned out to be three square, because Sarah refused to play.  Marty tried to fill in for her, but she's all paws.

Lying on the trampoline, looking at constellations.

I pointed out the Summer Triangle, and Sarah must have thought I invented it, because she then invented her own:  "Look!  It's the Trapezoid of Love!"

You can't bring a phone camping!  (At least he was looking up constellations this time).

 General tomfoolery in the tent.

The best part about camping in the yard is that Marty sleeps with us.

We saw lots of meteors, including one that was so spectacular that it made me squeal like a piggie!  We also saw several satellites.  It was a long night of very little sleep, but it was worth it.  Sarah and Mike slept in the tent, and Noah and I came back to the trampoline at 3:00 a.m. and slept there.  A bat flew over, a few inches above our faces.  Note the utterly hideous looking sleeping bag, which was totally groovy in the 70's.

Early morning in the tent.  You can't bring a phone camping!

Our resident crane in the early morning mist over the creek.

One of the questions Noah asked in the middle of the night while he was wide awake was, "What makes dew?"  (Also, "Where do you think that plane is going, and who do you think is on it?")

Flower just starting to open.  It's 6:00 a.m. now, and we're all back in the house, except Noah.  He finally went to sleep just before dawn, and he's still sleeping on the trampoline.
